My journey

OK soooo for firsts I just cant be thankful enough for the opportunities God has given me...and I'm so excited for what he has planned for this trip and whatever else is ahead. As is true for many of us i would never ever have though that at this point in my life that i would be planning on an internship overseas nor a future in missions but... God had other plans...

I haven't always had an understanding of missions none the less a passion for this. I had always saw my future living a comfortable life in suburban USA .. probably with a job in veterinary or teaching but my opinions and outlook changed after a trip to Peru in 2007. I could devote pages and pages about the incredible country of Peru and the wonderful and inspiring people there but without a doubt i can say that trip changed me. In my mind i always compared missions and missionaries to the time and doings of Livingstone... not that they were bad in anyway but my view was dated. I didn't have the understanding of why missionaries would bring like 4000 pictures of their trips filled with strange places with plenty of people who all had a story to go with them... i just didn't get it . After my ten day trip to Peru i began to understand that there is a world out there that needs hope and that God has a HUGE heart for all his children. At that point i began feeling like maybe i was given that opportunity for some reason beyond what I could understand but all I knew is that I wanted to be a part of Gods plan for the nations.Next step was a summer trip to to Peru. This trip again let me see Gods heart and allowed him to change mine. I came back home and began telling everyone about my trip i started to understand how misconceived my previous idea of missions was. I now was the one with 4000 pictures ready to share all of them with anyone who showed interest...God is great. So now here I am preparing for South Africa ... it still amazes me about how Gods plans are so much bigger than anything i could have imagined
