Hello Friends
The third week of soccer camps is finished. The excitement in South Africa is indescribable as the world cup continues. We have changed our soccer camps slightly for the area we are working in and the results have been great. We have seen a change in the children’s attitudes and behavior towards us and the message we have for them due to the adaptations made. We have had some incredible, God designed conversations with children that have shown us more that Satan does not want us here. There were three young boys who told us about some if the issues they daily deal with .One of the harsh realities is the drug and alcohol use at a young age (some as young as grade 4). They told us that this is encouraged their living situations and by many of the men in the area. One of the things that we have discovered is that there are often times eight or more people living in a one room house. Due to this many children are exposed to things at an earlier age. We can be assured that our God is supreme and knows every need .I ask that you join me in praying for the children of Phagameng and that He will put people in our path who we can speak truth into their lives .
One of our prayers is that by what we do here in Phagameng reaches out to everyone we are in contact with. This week I had a man come by the stadium and asked what was happening inside. I told him about the camps and what we were teaching the children. He then said… “Tell me about your Jesus”. It’s so incredible to see God move!!! We have also gotten a chance to talk with the workers at the stadium and they have been very interested in what we have to say about Jesus and how is everything to us and the reason why we’re here. We pray that we will be alert to the opportunities God puts before us.
This past Sunday we were able to hear the Founder of One Hope speak at a church in Pretoria(an hour outside of Johannesburg). It was so encouraging to hear about the amazing things that God has done through his willing heart and passion for the lost and hurting in the world. One of the things he said was it is not the speaker but the message that changes lives( and how true it is)!
As I am writing this I am listening to the song yearn by Shane and Shane. The words are …Lord I want to yearn for you I want to burn with passion over you and only you. This is inspired from Acts 17:25-28. I love the last two verses in which is says that we will seek after God and reach out for Him for in we live and move. Since I’ve been here I’ve been asked numerous times about what my plans are after this year is up. The first few times I responded by saying that I was done making any plans for now but God has continued to work on my heart and I my only desire is to spend my life loving Jesus and wherever that takes me I’m ready for. I look forward to all that God has ahead. Thank you for all your prayers, encouragement and financial support on this journey .
Please let me know if there is any way that I can pray for you. I love and Miss you all.
